bplaced is a new, inverted service. You don’t post what you’re up to or what you’re going or where you are. Instead, you post these things about your friends. Quick test shows that it may be a lot more fun!
In real life, very often we participate in conversations when everyone says “I” and “me” and “my” way too often. Try saying something about others and the whole talk becomes more interesting and engaging.
At bplaced, you post notes like:
@max is at home, browsing Internet.
@julia is a gorgeous woman.
@alex spent 2 hours talking about network with me on the conference, he’s really knowledgable.
etc.
Thus, when you see someone’s profile you can see things that others know/think about this person, as opposed to what he says about himself. If you create your own profile and invite your friends, you’d be surprised with occasional notes about yourself. You can confirm notes about you or about others.
There’s a more to it, but you’d better try it first. bplaced also includes a random video chat to discover new people and send notes about them.
